Do you have old photos from 20 years ago that need a home? Are you scrapbooking for other people that have photos from before you were even born? Are you making a scrapbook for your Grandmother’s 80th birthday? If so, then there is a great resource out there to help you get creative with those photos. There is a website called Infoplease.com that has a year by year section. This would be a great place to start to get ideas on what was going on in that time period before you were even born.
I clicked on the year 1977 when I was exploring this page because that was the year I was born. It gave me all kinds of information that would be great in creating a vintage page for your album, or for an album for a friend or relative. Some of the sub-categories under each year include:
*World Events
*U.S. Events
*Statistics
*Economics
*Sports
*Entertainment
*Science
*Deaths
While this may seem like a boring history lesson, it might just give you some inspiration you need to scrapbook. Imagine scrapping an old photo of your Grandmother from her childhood, and all you know is the year the picture was taken. You could title it: 1937 Did you know? After that, you could list several interesting facts about what was going on in the world at that time the photo was taken. For example, while I knew Elvis died the year I was born, I had no idea that Star Wars hit movie theatres that same year! This could also be a great resource for scrapping those baby albums that you never finished for your children from years ago!
While you may not want some of the information on this page like the Unemployment rate, it could be a valuable resource to help you step back in time and re-capture that year to make the perfect scrapbook pages for your album.
