Scrapbooking Week in Review for May 12-18, 2008

School’s almost out, the days are getting longer and warmer and we had another great week in the scrapbooking blog. Who could ask for much more?

Hopefully by now you have noticed that I have changed things up a bit this month and that there are now new ideas and step by step directions included more often.

Here’s what has been happening in the scrapbooking blog.

What is Hybrid Scrapbooking?

If you are active in the scrapbooking community at all, you might have seen reference to a new term dubbed hybrid scrapbooking. But what in the world does it mean? Is scrapbooking going green or is it referencing some scrapbooking vehicle for us hobby lovers? Nope.

Marker and Pen Storage and Organization

Markers, pens, colored pencils, gel pens and all types of writing materials are used in scrapbooking. They are sometimes used for journaling, doodling, drawing, coloring or other techniques.

Saturday Layout Challenge – Ink It Up

Stamping ink is such a versatile embellishment. It can add color, mute color or simply distress something to make it look more aged or worn. Paint is the same way. It can be used in so many ways on your scrapbook layouts. Todays challenge is to get creative with stamping ink or some paint.

Fabulous Find Friday: Mimi DigiScrap Totes

Digital scrapbooking is definitely not my way of scrapping. I much prefer the old traditional paper and scissor route.

Ad or Art Inspiration Challenges

In previous articles I have discussed how artwork, ads and other items are great inspirational pieces for your layouts. Sometimes it might be a mood or the setting, sometimes the colors used in the ad and sometimes it might even be the entire layout of the ad.

Wood Stamp Storage and Organization Tips

Wooden stamps have been around a very long time, long before scrapbookers were using them in their albums.

Technique Tuesday: Stamping and Dyeing Ribbon

This week’s technique stems from the fact that I have often heard scrapbookers complain that they aren’t enough ribbon colors to match their papers and supplies and they wish for more ribbon colors. If you are a ribbon fiend, these techniques are just what you might be looking for.

Paper Storage and Organization Tips

Paper is what most scrapbookers have the most of in their stash. There are two different types that need to be stored and organized – patterned paper and cardstock. In between those are the specialty papers like mulberry, velvet, vellum and others.

Scrapbooking in a New Way

Have you ever wondered why some scrapbookers scrapbook their photographs chronologically? Or maybe you wonder why some scrapbookers only use one photograph on a 12 x 12 layout. We all wonder why people that do things differently than us, do them that way to begin with.

Scrapbooking Week in Review for May 5-11, 2008

The weather has been somewhat more cooperative this week, but still we are plagued with rain that seems as if it won’t quit on some days. I am so tired of rain, yet have used the bad weather as an excuse to hang out with my kids, create more memories and overall spend some extra time scrapbooking.

How to Get Great Pictures

The question is often asked, “How do I get great pictures?”. There is no need to be an expert photographer to get good pictures nearly every time.
