What’s been the highlight of your summer so far?
For my daughter, it’s been boogie boarding; for my friend’s son, it’s been attending band camp; and for my neighbor, the highlight has been her annual trip to Mexico.
All three events are scrapbook worthy, as is just about any adventure you may experience this summer. The trick to crafting an eye-popping series of layouts that showcase your summer memories to the fullest is to plan ahead. For starters, you’ll want to snap a ton of photos of your seasonal escapades. Next, you’ll want to collect as many mementos as possible to feature on your page designs. Then, when it’s time to start putting the pieces together, try to incorporate as much of your theme as possible. For instance, in the case of my neighbor and her trip to Mexico, she could work with red, white, and green paper, to represent the colors of the Mexican flag. Another option is to use Mexican inspired clip art, stickers or die cuts featuring cactuses, maracas, or chili peppers.
If the highlight of your summer has been guitar lessons, then scrapbook that. Include photos of you and your teacher, as well as your practice sessions at home. Then, pepper the pages with guitar-related quotes, such as:
“Any problem you can’t solve with a good guitar, is either unsolvable or isn’t a problem.”–Anonymous
“Nothing is more beautiful than a guitar, save perhaps two.”–Fredric Chopin
“My guitar is not a thing. It is an extension of myself, it is who I am.”–Joan Jett
Otherwise, go with your gut and pen some original thoughts about your lessons in journaling blocks. You can share what made you decide to start playing the guitar, how it makes you feel when you hit the right notes, and what the biggest challenges are in learning how to master the instrument.
