Fall is one of the most affordable seasons to travel. With kids back in school and the holidays still a few weeks away, hotels, rental car agencies and airlines typically offer budget-friendly deals to entice people to escape from the chaos of their daily lives.
If you are planning to jet-off on a seasonal getaway, don’t forget to plan ahead if you intend to scrap your vacation memories. By creating detailed page designs you can relive your travel experiences by simply opening your scrapbook.
To start, don’t forget to snap a ton of photos. Begin with your packed bags and the excited expressions on your travel companion’s face as you head to the airport. Next, consider what types of mementos you want to add to your layouts. For example, boarding passes, tickets to museums, concerts and other attractions you visit, as well as your travel itinerary, maps and brochures make excellent additions to a travel-theme scrapbook.
You could also hold on to wristbands, badges and patches you collect during your trip, but be mindful of their size. You want to avoid adding really bulky items to your layouts, as it makes the book hard to close. Instead, look for smaller or thinner mementos, such as a napkin from a favorite restaurant or the front page of a foreign newspaper.
When you are constructing your scrapbook, the easiest method is to organize it chronologically. If you kept a travel journal or took notes during your trip, refer to your entries so that you can place your experiences in order. Personally, I am a huge advocate of travel journals, especially if you are a scrapper. A notebook helps you keep track of the sights, sounds and emotions you experienced on the trip. You can also refer to it if you plan to include journaling blocks in your memory album.
