Nephi has been telling us that through faith and the gift of the Holy Ghost, we can receive revelation from the Lord, and this has not changed from times of old until today.
18. For he is the same yesterday, to-day, and forever; and the way is prepared for all men from the foundation of the world, if it so be that they repent and come unto him.
God is the same today as He was thousands of years ago. The age of miracles has not passed. He will still minister unto us the same way He did the Israelites and Nephi’s family. He is not a changeable God.
19. For he that diligently seeketh shall find; and the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto them, by the power of the Holy Ghost, as well in these times as in times of old, and as well in times of old as in times to come; wherefore, the course of the Lord is one eternal round.
20. Therefore remember, O man, for all thy doings thou shalt be brought into judgment.
Because God’s law is unchangeable, we will be held accountable for everything we do. God is not going to overlook it “just this once” – he is not changeable.
21. Wherefore, if ye have sought to do wickedly in the days of your probation, then ye are found unclean before the judgment-seat of God; and no unclean thing can dwell with God; wherefore, ye must be cast off forever.
22. And the Holy Ghost giveth authority that I should speak these things, and deny them not.
I love how he says what he has to say without excuse. He has been moved upon by the Spirit to speak, and he feels no shame for it. Would that we all could be so unflinching.
From today’s reading: What can we do to feel more courageous when the Spirit asks us to do something?
