You may remember a blog I posted a few months ago about creating a room decor that was inspired by the beach. Well, it seems that home decor has finally caught up with me. Sea tones are definitely coming around as a popular decor for spring. You’ll find colors, fabrics and accessories that are all inspired by the sea.
Obviously, I appreciate this look. It is calming, relaxing and restorative. The natural elements that are incorporated into the look lend a bit of authenticity. It brings me back to my days living in a Connecticut shoreline town, were sea breezes mixed with the potent scent of flowers in spring.
The colors for this spring in sea tones this year are especially soft and windswept, and the palette is clean. While the colors aren’t muted, they give the impression of objects that have been affected by weathering of the sand, the sun and the sea. I would describe the colors as both warm and dusty whites, creams and taupes like sand, and cool and refreshing blues and greens that remind you of a coastal cottage.
There is nothing formal in this look, although it can be quite elegant with the right mix of accessories, such as homespun-type linens and throws, lined baskets of wicker and rope and a spattering of sea shells.
Valspar, a paint brand that is sold by the Lowe’s home improvement store features some great colors, such as Summer Cottage, Dried Hydrangea, Silver Leaf and Paris Mint. Behr paint offers beautiful colors for this look, such as Pacific Fog, Breeze Blue, Silver Dollar and Warm Honey.
