Sean Penn as Larry from “The Three Stooges?” I’d have to see it to believe it… and even then I might not accept it. Then again, Penn is a double Oscar winner, so perhaps it won’t be that much of a stretch. After all, Penn did get his start in Hollywood playing goofball Jeff Spicoli in “Fast Times at Ridgemont High.”
Regardless, the news of Penn signing on to play Larry in the Farrelly brothers’ big-screen update of “The Three Stooges” still caught me off guard.
Penn is teaming up with Jim Carrey (who is currently “in negotiations” for the role of Curly) and Benicio Del Toro, who will reportedly play Moe.
Studio execs say the movie is scheduled to begin filming this summer and will be released in 2010.
BOB BARKER RETURNS TO “THE PRICE IS RIGHT”
Come on… back!
Bob Barker has returned to his home away from home.
According to reports, the 85-year-old former game show host taped an episode of “The Price Is Right” last week. Fortunately, for Drew Carey, Barker wasn’t there to stay. Rather, the silver-haired TV legend returned to the show to promote his upcoming memoir, “Priceless Memories,” due out April 6th.
Last Wednesday Barker stood on the set where he had worked for 35 years alongside successor Carey for a show that will air April 16th. Barker role: present two showcases that were inspired by Barker’s new book.
For example, the first showcase featured a computer to order the book, a trip to New York City to buy a bundle of the books from the publisher, and a truck to haul them home in.
During commercial breaks Barker chatted up the studio audience revealing that he has been spending his retirement with his dog, Jesse, and two rabbits, Mr. Rabbit and Honey Bunny.
By the way, proceeds from Barker’s book will go to the DJ&T Foundation, which he founded in 1994 to subsidize the cost of spaying and neutering animals.
