If you want to search among your sea of bookmarks, you’ll love this tip!
I don’t know about you, but I collect bookmarks in my web browser faster than our dining room floor collects crumbs, and with three small children, that is saying something. There are always times where I am searching for something on the Internet, and I come across something great that I just don’t have time to dedicate to it just at that moment.
Another way I wind up collecting lots of bookmarks is through recipes. There are a lot of great recipes out there, especially in our Food blog. I find myself bookmarking lots of those.
The only problem with all of these bookmarks is that I seldom have or take the time to actually organize them. Oh sure, every once in a while I will delete a bunch. This is a usually a long process, since I have to visit each website to figure out why I wanted to bookmark it in the first place. Sometimes I find that I have bookmarked the same website or page numerous times. This proves that I am not using my bookmarks to their full advantage.
To search your bookmarks, just do the following.
With your Safari browser open, click on the show all bookmarks button in the top-left corner of the bookmarks bar. This is the little icon that looks like and open book.
When you do this, all of your bookmarks will be listed, including the collections column on the left side of Safari. It also adds a search field. I bet you hadn’t noticed that box before. I know I hadn’t. Just enter a search term, such as “triple chocolate brownies” or “frugal tips.” Hit your return (enter) key on your keyboard. Your bookmarks, and only your bookmarks, will be searched. Because this search is so focused, it is super fast and accurate.
Now go clean out all of those bookmarks!
