It appears that three of the celebrities that will be featured in the new season of “Who Do You Think You Are?” have been revealed. More will be announced at a later date. Previous seasons have had seven episodes each.
“Who Do You Think You Are?” is probably the most popular genealogy television program that exists. There is an American version of the show, as well as a UK version. Each version has episodes that feature a famous person who would be easily recognized by the target audience.
This series has been credited with making people much more aware of genealogy, and with making genealogy more of a “mainstream” activity than it was before the show existed. Each episode features one celebrity who will learn something about his or her family tree. Often the celebrity will be taken to locations where their ancestors lived or worked.
The celebrity doesn’t know ahead of time where he or she will be sent to, or what, exactly they will learn about their family history. The show successfully combines the interesting aspect of “celebrity watching”, with a documentary that focuses on genealogy research.
Recently, three of the celebrities that will be featured in the American version of “Who Do You Think You Are?” have been revealed. My best guess is that there will be more revealed later on. Season one had seven episodes, and so did season two. Therefore, I predict that there will be four more celebrities that will be featured in season three.
Actress Marisa Tomei is one of the stars that will be featured in season three. It has been said that she thinks that she will end up traveling to Italy for her episode of the show, (but, of course, she won’t know for sure until they film that episode).
Previously, it was announced that actor Martin Sheen, and actor Blair Underwood, will each be featured in an episode of season three of the show. So, that is three out of what I expect will be seven episodes. What other celebrities do you think will be revealed as being included in season three? It could be almost anyone!
It is very unlikely that any of the celebrities who were featured in previous episodes of the show will make a second appearance in season three. Season two included: actress Gwyneth Paltrow, actress Kim Cattrall, actress Ashley Judd, actor Steve Buscemi, comedian Rosie O’Donnell, country music star Tim McGraw, and musician Lionel Ritchie.
Season one featured: actress Sarah Jessica Parker, actor Matthew Broderick, actress Brooke Shields, actress Susan Sarandon, director Spike Lee, and NFL Hall of Fame running back Emmett Smith. It also featured actress Lisa Kudrow, who is the Executive Producer of the American version of “Who Do You Think You Are?”
