Sometimes I come across some fun home – based business ideas for seasonal businesses. While it may be a little late to cash in on this year’s Halloween festivities, don’t be scared to try one of these ideas next year. You just might find yourself with a little extra cash in hand – just don’t go spend it all on candy.
Speaking of candy, if you make candy then Halloween just might be a profitable time of year for you. Some people take great pride in decorating their homes for Halloween and passing out what they think are the best treats on the block. Also, people who host parties may be looking for something to serve that is different than the standard fun size candies that are in everybody’s trick or treat bag. If you can make small treats that people can afford to buy in large quantities, why not try promoting your candy business around Halloween next year and see what happens.
If you are a home – based baker, you can expand your offerings around Halloween to include cupcakes, cakes, cookies, and other frighteningly delicious and devilishly decorated items. Make sure that you publicize your expanded offerings a few months ahead of time so that interested customers can contact you to order their goodies. Some people would much rather pay you to make the cupcakes for their Halloween party than to make them themselves, ditto for people who are in charge of bringing the cupcakes to their child’s classroom Halloween party.
If you can sew, you can make Halloween costumes for people who want their kids to have something special to wear. Many people love the look and the variety that home made costumes provide, yet lack the time or skill to make it happen on their own. You can work with them to design the costumes that they and their kids dream of. Begin advertising well in advance in case you get a lot of orders. You want to make sure that you have plenty of time to get everything made on time.
Some people are even so busy that they would rather buy a nicely carved pumpkin than try to make one in a hurry at home. That is probably a good thing, since rushing and knives are not a good combination. Farmers’ markets and local produce stands are just a few places you could sell carved pumpkins, think about your particular community and where you might sell yours.
