While driving home last night I asked the Lord to lay on my heart some topics to write about. As I settled in my home for the night I started getting a flood of ideas. The initial passion I had to share about the Lord came back to me.
I get inspiration by:
• Going to church
• Looking at God’s creations
• Past experiences
• Books
• Topics of debate
• Specific scriptures
• Current events
• Needs of other people
• Things I’d like to know more about
• Studying the Word
• Devotional time
• My children
• Theories
• Feelings and emotions
• Inspiration of others
• My own walk with the Lord
• Happening upon websites
I make sure to keep a list of the various specific topics within these ideas that come to mind so that I don’t forget them. I tend to do better at conveying a message when I’ve been in prayer prior to typing. When I’m ready to blog, I will go down that list and choose what topics I want to write on for that day. Being inspired is only as difficult as I let it be.
I guess what was happening prior to last night was I had been trying too hard to think up ideas. I didn’t stop to listen to what God might be laying on my heart or wanting to teach me. My goal in blogging has been to learn as I go, sharing with others what inspires me in hopes it will inspire them as well.
Truth is, God impacts us, our world and relationships. There isn’t anywhere that I can look that I don’t see inspiration. Even as I sit here and type, I know it is God who has created me with abilities to type, read, and process my thoughts. As I look at my desk, I know someone’s hands designed by God assembled it. And here I am right now with the completion of a blog. How easy it is to allow God to inspire us as we allow Him to.
