You may be in a situation when you need to raise some quick cash, or you just want to jumpstart your debt snowball. If you are in this situation you may want to consider selling something that you have around the house. If you have not run up your credit cards solely on eating out, then you should have a few items that are available for you to sell. You should consider the best way to get the most for the items that you are selling. Here are five things to consider when selling your items.
1) If you have smaller items that are collectibles or are in good condition you may consider selling them on eBay. You can also sell clothing items or other things in lots. This does take a little bit more effort than a yard sale, but generally you can get more for the item on eBay.
2) Another option for larger furniture items is to list the item on craigslist. I sold my car through an ad on craigslist this year. It is a great resource, since the ads are completely free. You can expect the seller to do the hauling, and so you will not need to worry about shipping the items.
3) You may consider a consignment shop, although this is really not a quick method, and the store will get a portion of what you are paid. However, it may be something that you consider doing. You will likely get more money if you eBay the items, but if you do not have the time to list each item online you may want to consider the consignment shop.
4) Of course you may want to conduct the ever-popular yard sale. You can make a lot of money this way, and sell a lot of your stuff at the same time. Prices are lower at yard sales, so your profit may not be as high. However, you are selling stuff all at once, so it may save you quite a bit of time.
5) Finally you should carefully consider the amount that you are selling the item for. You do not want to price the item too high, because then you will not sell it. If you price it too low, you will not make as much money off of it. You may want to see what similar items are selling for. You should lower your prices if you are not getting a response when selling.
