Selling Your Stuff Secrets

Do you need to make a few bucks and get rid of the household clutter? If so, why not sell some of your stuff. If you do it the right way, you’ll get rid of more stuff and make some big bucks. Here are some secrets to selling your stuff.

Prepare and Present

“As is” is a bad phrase when you are trying to sell your stuff. Instead, do a little preparation to make your stuff seen in the best light possible. Clean everything up, tighten screws, and do whatever you can to improve the item. You’ll get rewarded with stuff that sells quickly and for the price that you set.

By the same token, make sure that you present your items attractively. If you are having a yard or estate sale, sort items by size, type or price, place them on tables that are within easy access for people, press and hang clothing, place books on bookshelves, and generally arrange things to look nice.

Showcase the Big Stuff

Along with arranging things nicely, make sure to showcase your biggest or most expensive items to attract customers and put your biggest money makers front and center. Not only will this catch people’s eyes, but you will automatically give buyers the impression that the pieces are something special.

If you are selling stuff online, be sure to take advantage of any of the tools that are available to showcase your items. Include several photos, make your title stand out with a check mark or other character to draw people’s eyes and use fonts and font colors to highlight the ad.

Price is King

While cash may seem like it is king when selling your stuff, it is really pricing that will make or break your sales. Be generous with your pricing on most items. This will keep people interested, sell more of your stuff and make your buyers confident about buying your bigger ticketed items.
