Monday is the sad anniversary of September 11, 2001. Stop and take a moment to remember. Do you remember all the American flags that flew that day and days after?
Let’s give tribute to the lives of innocents and heroes lost that day and every day after. You can also help your kids make projects to commemorate this day in our history.
Tie a great big yellow ribbon around a tree in your yard. Make a ribbon and hang it on your front door. Sketch it on poster board, have your kids color it, cut it out, and hang it up (or look for yellow poster board). You can also make ribbons from fabric and use spray starch to make them stiff. Make smaller ones that you and your kids can pin to clothing.
Make signs to show your supports for the troops, or use sayings such as, “We Will Never Forget.” Whether you agree with the current objective in the war (Iraq) or not, please show support for and pride in our country.
Decorate your home with Fourth of July or other patriotic decorations. Show your support for our brave troops with some of the ideas in the related articles listed below. Start looking now for an outfit for Monday, September 11. Dress in patriotic colors and help your kids do the same.
September 11, 2001 is the day the United States once again united. Let’s keep it that way. Since that time, many people have moved on and tried to act as if nothing has changed. Each one of us has changed, and so has life, as we once knew it.
Instead of trying to go back to business as usual, let’s give tribute. We don’t have to relive the feelings of pain, anger, and fear, but we certainly owe it to those that lost their lives, and the families of innocents and heroes, to remember them fondly.
