If you have ever been on a cruise then you know that it is one of the most romantic vacation options available. But with the influx of “family cruises” the challenge these days is finding the right cruise line and, even more specifically, the right ship within the fleet, that caters to couples who want to share some one-on-one time.
Romantic voyages are out there and they aim to please lovebirds regardless of their tastes. Whether your definition of romantic is a five-course candlelit meal or being pampered with an in-room massage the following cruise lines have what it takes to help you spend quality time with your beloved.
Norwegian Cruise Line
Norwegian Cruise Line’s “Freestyle Dining” philosophy, which allows passengers to dine wherever and whenever they want, is ideal for couple’s looking to eat at a table for two. NCL’s newest ships also feature villas’ that are located away from the so-called fray — and offer a host of special perks, including access to a fabulous Asian-inspired pool area complete with Balinese bed and hot tub. Itinerary-wise, the Norwegian Pearl offers romantic spring and summer Alaska sailings, while other couples-only ships in the fleet provide Europe and Caribbean routes.
Carnival Cruise Line
According to the cruise line’s website, if you are looking to set sail on a romantic odyssey then book a suite on the Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend or Carnival Miracle. At 88,500 tons and with 2,124 passenger capacities, these ships are big enough to offer plenty of onboard variety — but not so massive that they feel impersonal. Each of the ships feature penthouse suites, which include huge balconies and lavish bathrooms. The vessels also boast spas where you can get in a couples’ massage before heading to the pool and adults-only lounges. Carnival’s Spirit-class ships also have wedding chapels (though captains are not allowed to perform ceremonies), and packages that include help from staffers who will arrange weddings and vow renewals.
