Setting Xbox 360 Parental Controls

While chopping down zombies may be a lot of fun for you, it isn’t necessarily the best choice for your children. The carnage abounds in many Microsoft Xbox 360 games. Fortunately, you can set the parental controls to ensure that your children only play the games that appropriate for them. If you haven’t taken advantage of the parental controls for your video game system, I strongly suggest that you do so today.

The Microsoft Xbox 360 uses a game rating system that was developed by the Entertainment Software Rating Board. These ratings are divided by age and include some of the following designations: E for everyone, E-10 for children ten and older, T for teens and M for mature.

Here is how you can set up the parental controls on your Xbox 360.

When your Xbox 360, you’ll see the dashboard. If a game automatically starts playing, just press the big, round, green X that is in the middle of your controller. This is the Xbox Guide button. After pressing the Guide button, press Y. This will take you back to the dashboard.

The dashboard is divided into different blades. Hold to the right on the control stick or control pad until you reach the System blade.

The Family Settings menu is the second menu option. Enter it.

In the family Settings menu, choose the Console Controls option. it is the first selection on the page. Enter this.

In the Console Controls menu, select the first option, which is Game Ratings. Note that this will only affect setting parental controls on games. If you play DVDs or download videos, you will need to set controls on those items separately. DVDs and video setting can be changed under Video Ratings, which is the second choice on the Console Controls menu.

Check back for the rest of the instructions for setting Xbox 360 parental controls.
