Shaking Things Up at the Emmys and Taking Flight in Tennessee

SHAKING THINGS UP AT THE EMMYS

Dare I say I am looking forward to this year’s Emmy Awards?

Usually, I tune into to see who’s wearing what, and go about my chores while the show’s host and winners drone on in the background. This year, though, I think I might actually sit down and watch some of the festivities.

Why the change of heart?

I’m thinking this year might not be as boring as years past since there won’t be a single Emmy host this time around–there will be five.

Tom Bergeron, of “Dancing With the Stars”; Ryan Seacrest, of “American Idol”; Howie Mandel of “Deal or No Deal”; Heidi Klum of “Project Runway”; and Jeff Probst of “Survivor” have all been named as Emmy hosts for this year’s broadcast.

The reality-TV hosts are also all nominated in the new category that honors their work. Show producers say they decided to have the hosts preside over the awards show in an effort to spice things up this year.

Interesting.

The Emmy Awards will be telecast on September 21st on ABC.

TAKING FLIGHT IN TENNESSEE

Who says teen sensation Miley Cyrus and her singer father Billy Ray Cyrus aren’t soaring high these days?

The winged versions of the Disney do-gooders are.

According to reports, two 14-week-old American bald eagles named by the singer/actress and her father were released into the wild Thursday at the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Before you start kicking yourself for not witnessing the event in person, you should know that “Hannah Montana” wasn’t on hand to release the birds, which were hatched earlier this spring at the American Eagle Foundation. Rather, a few of Cyrus’ loyal fans reportedly help get the event underway.

Foundation officials say the eagles whose names are Tennessee (after the Cyrus’ home state) and Hope (Miley’s given middle name before she had it legally changed this year) were released from their current home in an artificial nesting tower located on Douglas Lake in Tennessee.

The eagles had taken practice flights around the facility, but really get a chance to spread their wings on Thursday.
