We’re running out of time before Thanksgiving. There may be no time left to paint or do other projects you had hoped to complete. That’s okay, because there are some quick, simple, affordable ways to get the guest room looking great and you can use these ideas at holidays or any time.
First, check into a reversible comforter set, duvet cover, or one of those “bed in a bag” deals. By changing the bedding, thus treating what is generally the focal point in any bedroom, you’ll make an impact quickly.
There are some terrific and affordable options, and if you like Overstock.com, be sure to check out some of the nice Microsuede and down comforter sets they have available. If you order now, you’ll get 10% off this order and 10% off your next order, plus one dollar shipping! I’ll be there doing a little shopping as soon as I’m finished here.
Reversible bedding is a fantastic idea, because next year, you can simply flip the comforter over for a whole new look instead of purchasing a new one again. Try to pick a color that will go with your existing bed skirt so you won’t have to replace it. If you do replace it, try to go with something neutral so you won’t have to replace it next time. These two tips also apply to sheets and they will help you save money in some areas so you can use it in other more noticeable areas.
When choosing bedding you should be able to find something that will work with the other elements in the space. If it’s a fairly neutral backdrop, it will be no problem. However, maybe you want more color, that’s easily accomplished by adding accents and artwork.
One simple accent idea is to purchase a place mat in pretty fabric that will coordinate with your new bedding and place it on top of a dresser. Add a few simple decorative items, or a couple candles, on top of it. It’s little touches like these that help make a space look “finished.”
Pick up a couple inexpensive prints to adorn the walls, toss in a couple of accent pillows and a warm throw, and maybe add an accent rug to bring some color to the floor. Add a couple plants and your guest room will be ready to welcome guests.
