I love shopping online for Christmas gift because it is so convenient. I can do my research, shop at different stores, find all of the deals and never have to deal with cranky kids and crowded stores. Well, at least if the kids get cranky, I can give them a snack and send them down to the playroom, something I can’t so when I shop at the actual retail stores.
There is one thing that I don’t like about buying Christmas gifts online and that is the shipping costs that may be associated with them. Of course there are ways around being charged shipping this holiday season.
Free Shipping Program from Amazon Prime
Right now, Amazon is offering a free trial of its Prime program. You can get three months of free two-day shipping, and you don’t have to worry about a minimum purchase. This helps you snag those daily specials or last minute deals without worry. You can set up the prime account to automatically expire at the end of the trail so you will never be charged for the service.
Ship to Store
Many stores, such as Walmart and Sears offer a ship to store option. You place your order online and your local store sets the items aside or orders them in to the store. You can then simply go to the store, where your order will be waiting for you already assembled and checked out. It brings new convenience to the request, “Honey can you pick up a few things on your way home?”
Coupon Codes and Free Holiday Shipping
As the Christmas holidays get closer, many online stores will offer free shipping deals or free shipping coupon codes. You can find these codes by searching for the name of the store and the term “coupon codes.” You can also search on coupon code sites, such as Retailmenot.com for coupon codes and links that will give you free shipping.
