Shower gel, body wash and soap
Things to get people clean seem to be a main staple of holiday gifts. My main source of these products is from gifts (hmm, are people trying to tell me something)? Also, holiday gift baskets and packages abound at up to 90 percent off after Christmas. Free samples are also another source of these products. With the body wash, I was able to stock up on Dove and Olay with coupons and tripling or buy one get one free deals. Each bottle cost me an average of 58 cents.
Magazines
There are so many offers out there for free magazine subscriptions, that is doesn’t make sense for me to buy any. When anyone in the house wants to read a magazine or use oner for a school project, we just shop for one from my filing cabinet, where I immediately file all of the free magazines that enter the house. If I wanted more, I could always pick some older ones up at yard sales or library sales. Currently in my file cabinet are relatively current issues of Family Fun, Woman’s Day, Good Housekeeping, Better Homes and Gardens, More, Wonder, Kiplingers, Lego Magazine, Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple and others. A good source of freebies is the blog over at FreeCoupons.com
Baby Products
Baby products are one of those things that can easily add up in your home. Baby shampoo, baby bath, baby lotion and baby oil all have lots of coupons, are given as gifts at showers and are available as samples. We also tend to overestimate the amount of products we need. My main source of baby products comes from a relative who overstocked. Since I already have these products, I use them for everyone, even the adults. I can’t see the wisdom is tossing a bottle of baby shampoo and then going out and buying a different type of shampoo for big kids or adults. Baby shampoo is also great for hand washing clothes–only a little is needed.
