If you watch Trading Spaces, you may have already seen this shelving system. It’s intended for the garage, but the size makes it perfect for almost anywhere. Each of the compartments is approximately a 13″ cube. That size is good to hold so many different things. In the garage, you can fit tools, sports equipment, or even things from your stockpile. In the laundry room, you can easily fit all your detergent, borax, bleach, and even ironing supplies.
Add a box (or two or four) for an extra $3. These are sized to fit the openings perfectly. With the boxes, it makes a good set of extra shelves for all those Legos I’m continually stepping on. It could also be a scrapbooking system. The 13″ size is perfect for 12″ x 12″ scrapbooking paper. The boxes are actually nice on their own. For $3, you can get two of the smaller 6.5″ x 6.5″ ones, perfect for temporary storage of photos or knickknacks. I was in the mall a couple of weeks ago and the price for similar canvas-covered boxes was almost $10 apiece, so $1.50 each is a good deal.
Add a rack pack for another $2. The site shows it full of sporting gear. It’s a removable bag. I’m thinking hamper for the boys. Maybe it might actually get them to pick up their clothes.
One of the other nice things about this system is that it’s collapsible. If you’re not using it, it just folds up into itself, flat against the wall. Of course, I can’t imagine having unused shelves, but the option is there.
You’re going to want to spend $25 because shipping is $7.99 for $0-25. For $25, I’m getting two squares (one for each boy), a rack pack, two large boxes, two pairs of small boxes. Considering that I probably would’ve spent half that much on just a hamper, I think this is well worth it!
