Almost as soon as we found out that we are having a girl, I began thinking pink. It seems that there are always a far wider selection of little girl’s clothing compared to little boy’s clothing and the little girl’s clothing is far more enticing with it’s frills and flounces. Before now I never really had a reason to actually look at baby girl clothing; I would go straight to the little boy’s clearance items. But now I have a reason and it is really hard not to at least look every time I go “window” shopping. The baby girl clothing at some of my favorite boutiques are not only ridiculously cute but also ridiculously expensive! While I found several baby girl items that I would like to have, there is no way that I am willing to spend that much money on onsies and body suits let alone on the too cute dresses! I wanted to have a few baby girl clothing items in the closet … something pink at least, but not at such a high cost.
The solution to my need for pink baby clothes was fairly easy: buy at consignment. While there are not a lot of children’s consignments shops in my area, there were two. After finding them on-line and mapping them, I was on my way to buy something pink for my unborn daughter.
I found the consignment shops easily enough and they had plenty of little girl clothing … so much so that it was almost overwhelming. What should I buy? I had to remind myself that I need to get something suitable for winter weather. I passed up all the cute little dresses and found my way to onsies and bodysuits. After a good bit of searching I found several onsies (long sleeve and short sleeve) and a few bodysuits all having some shade of pink (Yay!) and all for under fifteen dollars!
When it comes to baby and children’s clothing, consignment shopping is the way to go!
