Well, wouldn’t you know it? I’m here to brag about catalog shopping and Mary Ann’s showing us how to Tame Catalog Clutter. Those catalogs can pile up! I just hate getting rid of them. The good news is her system is simple, so we can all have less mess but still have fun shopping.
The catalogs I do keep are quite handy. I think Mary Ann will be proud of me though, since I decided last year to cancel all the catalogs I don’t really need. I had the catalog clutter blues. They wouldn’t stop coming! Now, I only receive my very favorites. The others still slip me one now and then, but I don’t have piles of them any more. The only ones I receive regularly are those that I’ll more than likely end up ordering from.
I like to take one (or more) along when I know I will have to wait somewhere. I look through them and work on my shopping list while waiting for one of my kids to finish up practice or while waiting for an appointment.
I love catalog shopping, especially since I live out in the country, and some of my favorite stores are not accessible. It offers me a lot more variety than the few nearby stores and shops. While my husband and I do try to take an end of the year shopping trip, I manage to order several things from catalogs.
Online shopping is awesome too. In a way (or a couple of ways), I like it even better than catalog shopping. For one thing, there isn’t any clutter. You can look at online catalogs and sales pages and simply close the window on your screen when you’re done. No muss, no fuss.
Another reason is because my kids won’t be thumbing through pages and seeing all the stuff I want to buy for them, like they do with paper catalogs!
Still, there are some things to keep in mind when shopping via catalog or online. Please check back tomorrow and I’ll share a few tips.
