Shopping with Grandma and Grandpa

A few days ago my mother-in-law invited me to go shopping for some shoes and perhaps some clothes for the the kiddos and work wear for my husband (my husband hates shopping so I usually buy clothes that I think will work for him and return or exchange as necessary) before the holiday rush that typically starts after Thanksgiving. She threw a date out when she would be free and luckily, we were also free that afternoon. We planned to meet at one of the less busy malls in our area. I told my son of our plans to meet grandma at the mall. He seemed pleased at the prospect but kept asking if grandpa would be there too. Since it was a weekday, I figured grandpa would be working. With my son excited to see grandma, we arrived at the mall a little early so that I could kind of get a feel for which shoes would be the best selection for my son and newly walking daughter. As for the children’s clothes, I did not know what my mother-in-law had in mind, so I browsed my favorite baby, toddler, and kid boutique to get some ideas not sure if we were even going to go there. During my initial perusal of shoes and clothes both of my children were fast asleep. Once I knew grandma had arrived, I woke up my son so that he could greet his grandma. We waited by the escalator for grandma to come down to the children’s shoe department. Much to our surprise we saw both grandma and grandpa descending on the escalator. Upon seeing grandma and grandpa, my son ran excitedly to greet them and held both of their hands as we walked to find him some new shoes.
