Sick Stars

He’s one of the funniest celebs on the planet, but Robin Williams’ current health condition is no laughing matter.

The comedian needs heart surgery STAT.

According to his rep, Williams’ needs an aortic valve replacement and will be forced to cancel the remainder of his one-man comedy show, “Weapons of Self-Destruction,” as a result.

In a statement to fans released yesterday the “Dead Poet’s Society” star called his health scare a “minor setback” and promised that he would resume his act “after a little tune-up.”

Williams was in Florida getting ready to perform in front of a live audience when he reportedly experienced shortness of breath and tightness around his chest. He was taken to a local hospital where doctors discovered his heart blockage.

The “Mork & Mindy” star said he was comforted by the fact that 83-year-old former first lady Barbara Bush, who underwent aortic valve surgery this week, is healing nicely. The 57-year-old actor joked that he plans to perform jumping jacks once he resumes his sold-out, 80-city tour in the fall.

Another star who spend time in a hospital bed this week is Emmy winner Mariska Hargitay. She was hospitalized Tuesday night with chest pains, according to her rep.

The “Law & Order: SVU” star was said to be experiencing discomfort related to a collapsed lung she suffered in January. The actress underwent surgery to fix the lung, but some speculate that she may have to endure another operation in the near future to alleviate her symptoms.

Finally, she’s not sick, but she spent time in the hospital this week anyway. However, I doubt that
supermodel Niki Taylor cared that she needed to be admitted to the hospital given that she left with a healthy baby girl.

Taylor and her husband, NASCAR driver Burney Lamar, welcomed their new daughter into the world on Wednesday (less than 24 hours before Niki’s birthday).

Baby Ciel (pronounced: See-elle) Taylor Lamar was born at 11:30 a.m. in Nashville and weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz., according to Taylor’s rep.

The 33-year-old model is already mom to 14-year-old twins Hunter and Jake.

This is the first child for Lamar.
