Every inch of your home is beautifully decorated for each holiday or special occasion; well, almost very inch that is. Sometimes you just need an extra little touch here or there. There are some quick, simple ways to fix that dilemma.
The first fix is making sure you always have extra candles around. When you see them on sale, grab some. It’s best to choose a neutral color so you can use them in any space and for any occasion. Then, just dress them up as needed.
If you choose white or off white, you can simply wrap some festively colored ribbon around the bases of pillar candles and tie in pretty bows (if you decide to light the candles, always remove the ribbon first). Try pumpkin-pie shades of orange for fall and Thanksgiving or cranberry red for Christmas. Add gold and silver or a deep cobalt blue for other occasions, or use colors that match your décor. Even white on white is pretty for snowy seasonal get-togethers.
Adding an interesting piece to any surface will help create more interest. Bowls and vases can be filled or used empty. You can always pick up some fresh flowers and fill vases throughout your home. It only takes a few moments and flowers instantly make any room feel fresh and inviting. Adding a new plant or two will have a similar effect.
Natural elements also work great in cooler months, so take advantage of what’s available in your yard. Even something as simple as a basket filled with twigs and tied with a ribbon in a nice warm color can help add a homey feel. The same is true of an everyday serving bowl, which can instantly become a décor element when filled with candies, fruits, or nuts. It’s these little touches, these extra little details, that make all the difference.
