Toys today are so adorable that many can double as accessories in children’s room when not in use. Topping the dresser or colorful shelves with cute stuffed critters, brightly colored toys, and beautiful dolls, are great ways to make a room look and feel more childlike. Not only that, but you also get the benefit of using them for more than one purpose, and by using them as décor elements; you’ll always have a place for them so they aren’t cluttering your child’s room.
You can almost put together an entire theme room with just toys. You will need few other accessories to expand on a theme or favorite character. In fact, if you choose bedding in solid colors or subtle prints that is color coordinated with a character, you can do it, and you can continue using the bedding even after your child outgrows Superman or Dora the Explorer.
A good way to create re-usable bedding is to purchase or make reversible options. If you can’t find a reversible comforter in two of the main colors you want, make one from colored sheets to cover an existing comforter. Then, layer the sheets to add to the effect. Use one color for the fitted sheet, another for the flat sheet, and mix and match pillowcases.
Place the comforter on the bed with the favored color facing up and fold it over so the other color shows. Then, fold the flat sheet down, allowing some of the accent color on the comforter to show. Top with bed pillows in mix and match pillowcases, and add cute accent pillows, adding themed elements to one or two, or adding a stuffed character to act as an accent.
When your child is through with Superman or Dora, simply remove characters, change the sheets to a matching set, and flip the comforter.
