In the constant battle to limit clutter and utilize limited space effectively, we have to come up with creative solutions. While there are many great storage and home organization products available, sometimes the standard items don’t work in every space. There are some specialized items, but we can also use things that we wouldn’t normally think of, and we can use items in different ways that those that were intended.
CD Rack Shelves
In small spaces, CD racks and towers can be squeezed in easily because they are tall and narrow rather than bulky. CD racks can also be used as shelves for other items besides CD’s. Slip a cute basket onto each shelf and create instant storage. In addition, you can hang a CD rack that has clean straight lines on the wall horizontally. The cubbyholes can be used “as is” or filled with small baskets as well.
Corner Pot Racks
Those expanding pot racks that grow wider at the bottom and more narrow at the top and fit perfectly in corners work great for storing pots and pans, but they too can be used to store other items. They aren’t necessarily just for the kitchen. Place one in the dining room to display pretty serving pieces, add one to a playroom to hold larger toys, or place one in the bathroom to hold towels and toiletries, or anywhere else you need a little extra storage.
Lamp Storage
Another cute idea is to add a little extra storage to your nightstand, for glasses, your watch, or other small items that you take off when you’re sleeping. Add a lamp kit to a small cabinet and you won’t have to have both a light and a container taking up space on your nightstand. Your lamp can do double duty as storage for your personal items.
