SPONGE PAINT VALENTINE’S DAY CARD
Materials:
Construction paper or card stock
Paper plate
Red or pink paint
A new sponge
Scissors or pinking shears
Pen or crayons
White craft glue
Glitter, sequins, ribbon, buttons, stickers or other embellishments
Directions:
Fold paper in half for a traditional card. If you want a smaller card (the non-folded type that is often handed out by students in schools as Valentines), fold and then cut a piece of paper into quarters. This will give you 4 cards.
Cut the sponge into a heart shape, making sure the heart will fit on your card.
Pour a small amount of red or pink paint onto a paper plate.
Dip the heart-shaped sponge into the paint. Gently scrape off any excess paint, then carefully stamp your card. If you want a glittery heart, sprinkle some glitter on the wet paint.
Let the paint dry.
Write a Valentine message, then glue on embellishments to decorate the rest of the card.
HEART IN HAND VALENTINE’S DAY CARD
Materials:
Two to three pieces of construction paper or wrapping paper in different colors (red, pink, lavender, green etc.)
Pencil
Marker
Scissors
Glue
Directions:
Trace your hand (or your child’s hand) on construction paper.
Carefully cut it out.
Cut out some red, pink or lavender hearts out of wrapping paper or construction paper, making sure they are small enough to fit inside your handprint.
Using green construction paper, cut out some leaves.
Glue some hearts onto your handprint cutout.
Write a message to your Valentine’s Day sweetheart.
