Single Moms and Keeping Things Neat

So Much to Do

Single parenting and housework. It never ends and do you know why? There is one parent and one, two, three or possibly more children to pick up after. Most likely you have worked all day and the kids are at school or day care. You come home not just tired, but exhausted because you have been up all night with the baby, shuffled the children to day care and school and then went on to work. The last thing that you want to do is housework after making dinner and helping the kids with their homework. So this is simple…do not.

Clean Up Day with the Troops

Pick one day a week to clean the house. This day will probably be Saturday as most everyone has the day off. Enlist the help of the troops. Give age-appropriate jobs as much as possible. Even the little ones can do something to help out. Do not worry about how they are cleaning too much as long as the job is done semi-effectively. Clean from top to bottom and get as much as possible done so that Sunday you can enjoy the day with the kids and just maybe you can do something special for yourself. No, I take that back. You MUST do something for yourself on Sunday. Whether it is something as simple as relaxing in the bathtub for 15 minutes, make it YOUR time.

Family Day

Make Sunday a day for the whole family to enjoy. Go to church and then come home and have a lunch where everyone helps to make it. If it is nice outside go to the playground or play some kind of sport all together. If the weather does not permit this then stay inside and watch a movie together, play a game or do a craft. Sit down at the table all together and have a family dinner. End your day early, give the kids a bath, and tuck them in. You might want to read to them a bit and reflect on your great day together. Then it is time for you. Do something for yourself. You have earned it. Read, do a craft, watch a show, or relax in a warm bubble bath. It has been a productive yet enjoyable weekend and you are a great mother. Smile and be happy.

I am a mom to my precious one and only, a nurse in a heartwarming adult living facility, and a freelance writer. I am "Angel" to the one who has helped me through life for the past 2-1/2 years and has made a joyful difference. I am a featured contributing writer for Rich Women Sisterhood, A Distinctive Style magazine and a writing and health advisor on Just Answer. As well, I write greeting cards, articles in health, relationships, diet, fitness, parenting, and travel. I reside in Upstate, NY and enjoy spending time with my loved ones, writing, the outdoors, and fitness. What I would like to say to others is.......Slow down and enjoy the moment, as you cannot get it back. Dream, believe, hope, but most of all have faith. Be careful with your words...they have the potential to hurt or bring forth joy. Remember, gentleness is a comfort to a wounded heart. Wishing you all many blessings. ~Angel Lynn~
