Can you believe it is already two-thousand-seven? Kids are growing so fast and life seems to be passing so quickly. It is times like this when I stop and reflect upon the blessings I have in my life but also the things I want to get accomplished in the New Year.
You are a single parent, in the trenches, putting your kids first and probably battling exhaustion. It is so important to take a moment to pat yourself on the back and give applause to all your hard work. Single parenting is hard work and you are forced to rely on yourself to get through discipline issues, nightly homework, middle of the night medicine issuance, school drop off and pick up, getting dinner on the table, sick days, no school days, school vacations, entertainment, housework etc. The list could continue far beyond this blog. For all that you do, be kind to yourself and feel proud you are doing the best that you can.
What does the New Year hold for you? Do you have children starting Kindergarten or High School? Will you be starting a new job or trying to find time to make it to the gym a few times a week? Will two-thousand-seven be the year you try to make yourself available for a new relationship? On top of everything you have going on already these additions can be tough to work in. Compile a list of goals for the New Year. Putting tem on paper makes them more real and helps you stay accountable to them. Share the list with a friend. Then…get moving! Yes, you may get off track or deflated from time to time because of the juggling act but at least you are trying and eventually it will pay off.
I would love to hear your goals! Please feel free to share.
