Are you one of the many single parents who avoids dating because you worry about your children’s feelings? It’s good to be sensitive to the emotional trauma that most of them have experienced.
It’s also good, however, for our kids to see us continuing to have relationships with adults.
According to a February 26, 2006 article by Kimberly Daly, “Single Parents Should Look for Love,” published in The Tennessean, seeing us in adult relationships frees our children from the belief that they need to become our confidants.
In addition, it keeps the distinct roles of adult and child clear and helps our kids learn how to share us.
