Less than a week to go! Are you getting excited? Now that we’re in the home stretch, it’s time to take care of details.
Do you have Christmas music? If not, you can pick up a CD or you can find some holiday music online and play it from your computer. Bookmark a site ahead of time so you don’t have to search for it during the festivities. While you’re on the computer, look for a nice, holiday wallpaper or screen saver too.
You may have music stations as part of your satellite or cable TV package as well, so check for those that are devoted to holiday music and put those channels in your favorites list so they will be easy to access when you want them.
Is your guest room ready for guests? Give it a good once over, change the sheets, fluff the pillows and add any extras like another warm blanket. A basket filled with a new toothbrush and trial size items is a nice touch, as sometimes people forget simple necessities. A small bottle of lotion, lip balm, a pack of gum or mints, a personal size bar of soap or tube of shower gel, and a new bath sponge are nice ideas. You might also want to include a small gift for your guest(s).
Since you will probably be busy almost non-stop between now and Christmas, this is a good time to give tips or gifts to those who provide services if you haven’t already done so. Don’t forget the cleaning lady, babysitter, pet groomer, mail carrier, etc.
Take a moment to organize your receipts from Christmas shopping. It’s easy to set one down or stuff one in a pocket and forget about them. Even if they are all in one place, they can easily become jumbled. Sort through them, organize them, make copies, and file them where you’ll be able to find them easily if you need them.
This is also a good time to write down which items need batteries, how many batteries are needed, and what types, so you can get them if needed next time you’re out.
