The next time you get ready for your grocery shopping, also plan on getting up early, throwing on some clothes, grab a quick bite to eat and head out. Getting to the grocery store early can really save you some money on your food. We’ve already covered two ways this is true, now let’s explore some more. The early bird gets the best deals!
3. When you shop early in the morning, you don’t have to fight your way through the crowds. You won’t have to wait on a long line or say excuse me twenty times just to get down a single aisle. I find that when the store is less crowded, I am a better shopper. I can take the time to go down the aisle and look for unadvertised specials, double check my coupons and calculations, and make sure I completely understand a deal. This is important when store policies seem to change every day.
For example, this past weekend, I saw a deal for Raisin Bran and Cherrios cereal. They were advertised as buy one get one free. I picked up a box of each, but the policy changed to say that shoppers had to buy the same exact type of cereal (two boxes of Raisin Bran or two boxes of Cherrios, but not one of each) for the deal. If I were distracted by having to make my way through a crowd of shoppers in a grab and go move, I might have missed the changes and paid full price for both boxes of cereal.
4. I find it much less tiring to shop in the morning. There is less of a crowd of course, but I don’t feel as rushed or at the end of my energy. The whole day is spread out before me, and I’m much brighter and on the ball. Being less tired means that I’m less likely to forget an item that I then have to go back after a sale and purchase for full price. I’m also less likely to just grab something off of the shelf so I can go home and be done with shopping.
Only two more reasons to go. Please stick with me as I reveal more ways that shopping early at the grocery store can save money!
