Smart Reuse Ideas for Buttons

file0001722044860Chances are that you have a bunch of buttons laying around your home. If not, they are easy enough to find cheaply. Put them to good use with these smart reuse ideas. They help solve common problems and save money.

Identify Family Towels

Don’t waste money rewashing clean towels or going out and purchasing a different color for each family member. Instead identify an individual towel by sewing a button on the lower corner. Use a different color for each family member. This will also make each person responsible for his or her towel, so there should be no more wet towels left on the floor.

Organize the Office

Select particularly pretty or vintage buttons and then glue them to flat-head thumbtacks. The tacks can be used on an office (or kitchen) bulletin board to keep everything prettily organized.

Prevent Earring Loss

Single earrings are a pain. Prevent loss or of having to hut through your jewelry box to find a pair is a waste of time. Solve the problem with a simple button. Pair up your earrings, push the posts through the holes of a single button and attach the backs. The earring pairs will stay together.

Use as Game Pieces

No need to toss away board games when some of the pieces go missing. You can use colorful buttons to substitute for absent tokens and players as needed. This saves money over having to replace perfectly good board games.

Level Furniture

Buttons work really well to help level out a wobbly leg on a chair, table or desk to make it usable. This beats having to get a new piece of furniture or even buying shims and repair pieces. Plus, if you get the right size button, the rim around the outside will help to hold it in place.
