During the summer months my house is always buzzing with blender mixing together ingredients to make smoothie. The rest of year we rarely make them and that is a shame. Smoothies can be healthy, make a great snack and easy to customize to tastes. I love controlling exactly what goes in my smoothie. Our favorite ingredients in my home are strawberries, lime juice, frozen yogurt, low fat ice cream, fat free sherbet, bananas, and berries. I use all flavors of yogurt to enhance the flavor. I may even add fat free half and half to make it thicker and creamier. Now, I’ve been known to make the unhealthy kind with Oreos and ice cream also!
The following recipe for you to enjoy is one you can customize to your taste. It’s easy to make with simple ingredients. Remember you can add flax seed or a powdered protein for added nutrition. I have heard of some who add some cabbage for a boost of nutrition. Believe it or not, you can’t taste it. However, I have never used that ingredient so I am not sure how they disguised it. At any rate, you can use these simple ingredients to make a quick smoothie.
A Smoothie in No Time!

2 8 oz cups of low-fat yogurt any flavor of your choosing

Blend all ingredients in a blender then enjoy!

1 banana-frozen
1 tbsp-honey
1 cup- 1% milk ( more or less for thickness)

I figure you can use low fat peanut butter to save some fat grams. Try your own creations as you become accustomed to making them. Smoothies are a fun way to add in nutrition.
