Grab some white sweatpants and a white hooded sweatshirt, extra baggy. Take in at the waste if necessary, but they should be pretty baggy everywhere else. Stuff the pants legs, the shirt sleeves, and the “belly” of the shirt with fiber fill. If you’d rather use other materials, have your child wear other clothes beneath the sweats to protect skin. Then, crumble up newspaper, tissue paper, etc., and stuff them inside.
Your snowman will of course need a hat. Choose any style you like. If you have any New Year’s party favors still hanging around, you might be able to find a top hat. You can use anything from a top hat to a baseball cap.
Paint your child’s face white and paint a black circle on his or her nose (you may want to skip the face paint with really little kids so they don’t get paint in their eyes, etc.). Use a little bubble-blowing pipe. Since they usually come in bright colors, you can either paint it with craft paint or glue on some dried grass for texture.
Cut out some black squares with rounded corners to use as “charcoal” buttons down the front of your child’s clothes. Simply pin them on with safety pins or use fabric glue if you aren’t up for sewing. Throw on a scarf and some mittens and you’re done!
For a snow-woman, add false eyelashes or paint on big eyelashes and lipstick. Add a wig of curly hair and a pillbox hat, or hair ribbon. Add a shimmering, silky scarf instead of a muffler. Give your little girl a big oversized purse of bag to use for collecting candy, and add sparkly broaches for buttons down the front of the sweatshirt. Find some pretty pink gloves or mittens, and you will be all set!
