So Long Sam

Sam Lufti, the man Britney Spears’ parents consider to a parasite sucking the life out of their derailed daughter, has now (at least temporarily) been shut out of the popwreck’s world.

Yesterday a judge named Brit’s father, Jamie Spears, conservator of his daughter. Which basically means that he is now in control of the 26-year-old singer’s life. In addition, the judge also slapped Lufti with a restraining order mandating him to stay away from Britney, who continues to be evaluated at UCLA Medical Center’s psychiatric hospital.

The judgment means Lufti (who calls himself Britney’s “manager and friend” but is referred to by others as her man-servant) can no longer visit Brit in the hospital (or bring her burgers from In-N-Out as he has reportedly been doing since she was committed on Thursday). According to court documents, the restraining order is in effect for 22 days, though legal experts say a judge could make it a permanent order at the end of those 22 days if deemed necessary.

Score one for the parents.

The judge awarded Brit’s dad conservatorship because it was found that Miss Meltdown is “gravely disabled” and cannot care for herself or handle her affairs. However, the conservatorship is only valid until Monday, at which time another hearing is scheduled to be held.

That means Jamie Spears only has about 48 hours to put his plan into motion.

As conservator, Brit’s father will have the power to restrict and limit visitors to his daughter (see ya Sam), appoint around-the-clock security for Spears, and have access to all medical records and communicate with doctors (though as conservator Jamie Spears does not have the power to force medication on his daughter). The judge also gave Brit’s dad and his attorney temporary control over Spears’s finances, in addition to securing her residence, changing its locks, and vacating any people living there (see ya Adnan).

Score two for the parents.

Most people who were inside the courtroom when the judge ruled on the conservatorship told reporters that this ruling was the first positive step—-a turning point in fact—-in helping Britney recover from the downward spiral of bizarre events that has become her life.
