Solutions to Dissatisfaction

One of the things you can do regarding being more satisfied with life and your marriage is being grateful. No matter how bad your situation is it could always be worse.

Last night I was listening to the wind raging outside and the rain lashing the windows, I was tempted to moan about the rain.

Then as I lay there awake, I thought how much I had to be grateful for. I was in a warm bed curled up next to my husband with a roof over my head that despite the fury of the storm outside showed no signs of lifting. We’d had a warming meal in the evening and clean water for a cup of tea or three. That’s more than many people in our world ever have.

So when it all came down to it I had plenty to be grateful for. I lay in bed listing all the things I had to be grateful for, including a husband I love and who loves me, a text message that made me smile and little things thing like getting laundry washed and dried in the day before the rain started.

Once the attitude changes, we state to look at things differently. I believe if we concentrated more on the things we were grateful for in life and in our marriage we’d each realize the list of things to be grateful for is longer than the list of dissatisfactions.

When you look at your spouse you may be tempted to be dissatisfied because they don’t do things the way you want or always behave as you would like.

Instead of worrying about the things they aren’t doing or saying, why not tray being grateful for their good qualities and the things they are doing. It might be something as simple as putting the trash out or going off to work each day so that income is coming in for food and clothing. Whatever it is, let them know that you are grateful for them and their contribution to your married life.

Encouragement and praise can do more to change a relationship that anything else.
