Some Simple Halloween Decorating Ideas

If you’re looking for some simple ways to add a few more Halloween touches, here you go:

Boo!

halloween decorationsScrap wood is great for this decoration, because it will give it a more rustic look. If you don’t have any, craft wood will work too. Look for pre-cut wood for small signs, which often have a wire for hanging already attached. Paint the wood orange and let it dry. Then, paint the word “boo!” with black paint. Apply the paint in thick coats so you get a few drips. Free hand the letters (they look better if not perfect). Add a bit of raffia, a string of beads,or some twine to hang your sign, if it doesn’t already have a hanger. Add some plastic spiders or other fake bugs, if desired… makes a cute front door decoration.

Pumpkin Plates

This is a really easy, cute way to decorate your door to greet guests. Pick up some large and small solid orange paper plates. You should be able to find them in most party stores or in the party section of your favorite store (or look by the Halloween treat aisle). Simply decorate the plates to look like pumpkins or jack-o-lanterns. Use paint, markers, construction paper, or craft foam. Place one large one and surround it with smaller ones or arrange however you like.

Candy Container

You’ll need something to hold all that candy when the big day arrives. Any cardboard box that’s large enough will do. Close the box and tape it securely shut. Cut a hole in the top just large enough to slide a hand it to grab some treats. Decorate the box in dark colors and add fake bugs and bats to make it a little creepy. Have trick-or-treaters might just wonder if they’ll get a trick or a treat when they stick their hands inside the box.
