Southern Storm — Terri Blackstock

In this sequel to “Cape Refuge,” Terri Blackstock tells the story of Blair Owens, the daughter of murdered parents Wayne and Thelma. Police Chief Cade has become a good friend to Blair, and all signs are pointing to romance, but Blair has a hard time trusting anyone.

storm

One night while driving alone, Cade accidentally runs over a man who walked out in front of his car. The man had no ID, and Cade can’t get over the guilt of killing him, even though it seemed like a suicide, the way he appeared out of nowhere and essentially threw himself in front of the vehicle. But after the autopsy, Cade learns that the man had been shot prior to the car accident, and the mystery deepens.

Authorities discover the victim’s name, but suddenly Cade is nowhere to be found. The woman he was last seen with turns out to be the wife of the car accident victim, but that’s all anyone knows. Rumors start to circulate that perhaps Cade did away with the man so he could be free to be with the woman, but Blair knows Cade better than that. Something has gone horribly wrong, and she is determined to find him.

She has been disappointed by religion in the past, but now it’s time for Blair to come to know God for Himself, not just as an icon found at a church. Little by little, she opens her heart to Him and lets Him guide her in her quest to find Cade, and to save him from a fate more gruesome than she had even imagined to herself.

With her impeccable sense of balance between Christian teachings and everyday application, Terri Blackstock creates a world of tension and suspense where the principles of the gospel can reach in and bring hope into the darkest hole.
