microphone Once a week, the Special Needs Podcast Roundup brings you brand new episodes of podcasts that discuss issues and topics that are relevant to parents of children that have special needs. These episodes could range from autism, to allergies, from special education to health insurance issues that affect families that have a child who has special needs.

The Parent’s Journal has an episode that was released on April 9, 2012. The episode topic is: “Books to Help Preschoolers Who Worry”. It features Jacqueline Golding, who is a psychologist, and the author of “Healing Stories”.

Special Chronicles released episode 34 on April 9, 2012. This episode is called “Special Easter Lilly”. It features the second part of an interview with Sherry Boas, that was started in the previous episode of Special Chronicles. Sherry Boas is the author of the Lilly Trilogy. Other topics discussed in this episode include: adopt a duck to support Special Olympics of Illinois, Down Syndrome Day and the UN, listener feedback, and more.

Rowan has autism. The Horse Boy Method is a form of treatment that is specific to autism and neuro-psychiatric conditions. It involves riding horses, and is a six step process.

NPR has an episode “Morning Edition” that was released on April 9, 2012. This episode is called “Study Warns of Autism Risk For Children of Obese Mothers”. The results of the study suggest that moms who are obese or that have diabetes are more likely to have a child who has autism or other developmental problems.

NPR has an episode of “All Things Considered” that was released on April 8, 2012. This episode is called “Cochlear Implants Redefine What it Means to be Deaf”. This episode talks about the cochlear implant, and how it could affect deaf schools. It also goes into a little about what it is like to go from being deaf to suddenly hearing a lot of sounds.

CNN has an episode of Sanjay Gupta, MD that was released on April 2, 2012. This episode is called “Autism rates increasing, but why?” Dr Gupta interviews Dr. Gary Goldstein on why the percentage of children with autism is increasing.
