NPR released an episode of “Morning Edition” on June 4, 2012. This episode is called “What’s Different About the Brains Of People With Autism?” This episode features Jeff Hudale, who has autism. He has spent the past 25 years as a research subject in order to help scientists understand autism.
NPR has an episode of “Morning Edition” that was released on June 11, 2012. This episode is called “To Sniff Out Childhood Allergies, Researchers Head To The Farm”. This episode is focused on how researchers are trying to understand why allergies are on the rise today, especially in children. They are looking at kids who live on farms because the researchers think that early exposure to allergens helps a child’s immune system to avoid having allergic reactions.
NPR released an episode of “Talk of the Nation” on June 11, 2012. The episode is called “Op-Ed: Eugenics Specter Hangs Over DNA Sequencing”. In this episode, host Neal Conan points out that researchers have mapped the entire genome of a fetus using a blood sample of the mother and a saliva sample from the father. He speaks with guest Ralph Douthat, who is a New York Times columnist. Could this DNA test result in eugenics? Would parents choose to abort children who had disabilities or special needs?
