Special Needs Podcast Roundup – Week of March 19, 2012

iPod Once a week, the Special Needs Podcast Roundup brings you brand new episodes of podcasts that discuss topics that are relevant to parents of children who have special needs. Certain podcasts are consistently focused on a particular special need. Others are not always about special needs topics, but will do an episode on it once in a while.

Hope Saves the Day released episode number 109 on March 8, 2012. This episode is called “Interview with Director Jamie Grover of Autism on the Seas”.

Jamie Grover is the Director of Group Development for “Autism on the Seas”, which is the flagship division of Special Needs on Vacation. They plan vacations for families who are affected by autism spectrum disorders, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other cognitive, intellectual, or developmental disabilities.

Special Chronicles has an episode that was released on March 16, 2012. This is episode number 32, and it is called “ALPs Friends Forever”.

In this episode, there is a discussion about the Athlete Leadership Programs (ALPs) Input Council Meeting and Leadership Seminar that was held recently at the Special Olympics Illinois State Headquarters. Autism & Disney Series – The Best Magic is a podcast designed to spread knowledge about autism, and to spread awareness of how children with autism can have a great Disney vacation. The most recent episode of this podcast is number 4, which is titled: “Autism & Disney Series #4: With Tricia and Kathy”.

Inside Learning – The Learning Podcast released episode number 66 on March 15, 2012. This episode is called “To TeachMeet and Beyond”. This episodes includes an interview with Bev Evans, (resource creator of “Communication4all”). It also shares news about schools councils, a discussion about free resources at TeachMeet, and another discussion about the current state of play in special needs education.
