Once again it is time for this week’s Special Needs Podcast Roundup. This is where to go to find brand new episodes of your favorite podcasts that are relevant to the parents of children who have special needs. It also is a good place to look for random episodes of podcasts that don’t always focus on special needs, but who sometimes dedicate an episode or two to that topic.
The Coffee Klatch has an episode that was released on November 14, 2011. This episode is called “Bright Not Broken: Gifted Kids, ADHD, and Autism”.
This episode talks about children who fall into a group called “Twice Exceptional” or “2e”. These children are both gifted and diagnosed with a disability (such as ADHD, or an ASD), at the same time. This episode is a “wake up call” for parents, who should question why our mental health and education systems are failing our brightest children.

They discuss low-tech and high-tech solutions that can be used to meet each child’s needs. They also talk about some excellent options for students who have learning disabilities.
The Mayo Clinic has an episode that was released on November 14, 2011. This episode is called “Allergic to the Cold”. Mayo Clinic Dr. James Li discusses that it is really possible to be allergic to the cold.
The Mayo Clinic has an episode that was released on November 9, 2011. This episode is called “What is SAD”. Mayo Clinic Dr. Mark Frye explains about what seasonal affective disorder is. This is a disorder that can affect both adults and children.
Need Project has an episode that was released on November 14, 2011. This episode is called “The Heart of the Caregiver with Mary Tutterlow”. She works to help caregivers to connect with one another, and to understand that they are not alone.
Hope Saves the Day released episode number 95 on November 11, 2011. This episode is called I Am Autistic Television Pilot Review!” They discuss the review of the show, and play a clip from it. They also talk about a survey that associated excess neurons with autism.
ReThink Autism has a “Tip of the Week” that was released on November 2, 2011. This one is called “Help Advance Your Child’s Conversation Skills”. This helps parents teach those skills to their child who has an ASD.
