Tori Spelling’s children will be seeing more of mommy this fall.
According to reports, the actress has pulled out of the CW’s much hyped “Beverly Hills, 90210” spin-off.
Shortly after the birth of her new daughter Spelling announced that she would be joining former original castmates Jennie Garth and Shannen Doherty on the revamped teen drama, but just a few hours ago her rep issued a statement saying that the actress would no longer be reprising her role as Donna Martin.
Why?
It’s apparently all about the Benjamins… or in Spelling’s case, the lack thereof.
According to US Weekly, the 35-year-old mother of two dropped out of the series after learning that co-stars Garth and Doherty were commanding $35,000-$50,000 per episode compared to Spelling’s $10,000-$20,000 per episode salary. Spelling reportedly wanted the same amount even though she would have had significantly less screen time.
You’ll recall that Spelling was one of the first original “90210”castmates to be hired for the spin-off. Back then she told reporters that Donna Martin was now “the owner of one of the coolest stores in Beverly Hills, a shopping hot spot that is frequented” by the new characters.
No word on who will replace Spelling.
What do you make of the actress pulling out? Frankly I am a bit surprised she walked away, after all, Spelling’s late father Aaron was the brainchild behind the original series and she must have done two-dozen interviews saying how she was excited to bring Donna back to the small screen.
Then again, Spelling does have a successful reality TV show on Oxygen—-“Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood”–and she is in the process of penning a sequel to her best selling memoir… and she did just give birth to daughter Stella less than two months ago, so perhaps she didn’t think it was worth her while to work for $15,000 per episode.
I guess she is not as hard off as she once claimed…
