Spring Cleaning

Yes, it’s that time of year again. If you dread hearing neighbors, friends, and in-laws extol the virtues of Spring Cleaning, you’re not alone. We all know it has to be done, and it does feel good to have a squeaky clean home once it’s over, but isn’t there an easier way to get a fresh start than enduring all those chores? Not really.

Spring Cleaning is a lot of work, but that does not mean it has to be drudgery. I’ll be posting tips to make spring cleaning a little easier. You have probably heard tips like “Clean the windows first so you can let the sunshine in.” That’s all well and good, but some of us would much rather get outside and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of spring in all their glory. Target the Worst Areas First

The very first and most important tip is also probably the toughest – getting the worst area out of the way. What is your biggest obstacle? The kitchen? The playroom, basement, or garage? Start there. You know how it is; the worst job always seems to find its way to the bottom of the list, and then we keeping finding ways to avoid doing it.

Instead of leaving the worst until last, you should get the biggest, hardest jobs done right away. You won’t keep feeling that sense of dread as you contemplate those overwhelming chores. You will actually feel a sense of accomplishment once those tasks are out of the way, which will motivate you to keep going. Just jump in there and knock it out so you can cross it off the list.
