Last weekend when I was spring cleaning my living room, I used my brand new upholstery cleaner. It just made economical sense to invest in my own, so that I always have it handy.
When I took it out of the box, I read the instructions and set those aside. Later on I would put those instructions in a binder. That got me thinking about the importance of spring cleaning papers.
Paper piles and clutter can be a real problem in many homes. Finding a way to eliminate the piles and clutter can not only make your home more functional but you can more easily find what you need when you need it.
So going back to the instructions on my upholstery cleaner…they get placed into a pocket holder inside a binder. I have a binder that is strictly for warranties and instructions on appliances and other products in our home. I also keep the accompanying receipt for the product, just in case I need to return it.
Binders have been one of my favorite ways to organize papers. You can use pocket holders or page protectors. And you can certainly find a variety of uses for binders.
For instance I use binders to hold school papers, recipes, pictures, and projects. I know where to find certain items because of this.
But papers can also be organized with file folders or pocket folders. There are different systems that you can use. Determining which system would work best is the first step toward spring cleaning your papers.
After that you purchase the items you will need (bins, folders, page protectors, binders, filing cabinet, etc.). Then you begin to go through each paper pile and either file it away or throw it away.
What systems have you used to organize your papers?
