Spring Fling: Inject Some Springtime into Your Home

Bring springtime indoors and freshen up your décor with some of these ideas:

Wicker or Woven Baskets

You don’t have to wait until Easter to start using baskets around your home. There are many different sizes, styles, and shapes to choose from that can be used in nearly any space. They are great for organizing, creating displays, covering plain planters or pots, and even making lampshades. Because wicker and woven baskets have a natural look (even if not made from natural materials), they create a sense of bringing the outdoors in.

Wicker Furnishings or Accessories

Exchange some of your more substantial furniture for wicker furnishings, or add wicker accents. Swap out your ottoman or end table for a charming wicker piece or add a wicker wastebasket, umbrella stand, decorative shelf, or use a wicker frame for an existing portrait, painting, or mirror. Other “outdoor” furnishings will also look great, such as a wrought iron table or chair, especially one that’s been painted white. These items make the perfect “garden” touches for indoor décor.

Turn up the Color

Bright colors that mimic nature are perfect for injecting a sense of springtime. Sky blue, sunny yellow, vivid, lush greens, and bright colors found in flowers will lighten and brighten any space and make it feel lighter and airier. Change out towels, accent pillows, throw rugs, and other accessories and replace them with light and bright accents.

Adding a vase of fresh flowers will instantly freshen the space. Choose springtime favorites like daisies or daffodils. A bouquet made up of mixed flowers and colors is also a delightful touch. Choose clear or brightly colored vases.

Indoor Fountains

If you have always wanted a fountain, now is the perfect time. The relaxing sound of water is a great way to bring springtime inside, and fountains can be quite beautiful and soothing.
