Has it really been two full weeks since we got started? I’m thinking it’s time for a change. I’ve said from the get go that this year’s Spring Forward to Action program is about building endurance and regaining my personal strength. Since my surgery in February, my energy levels flag pretty quickly and it’s important to me to get back that level of energy once more.
So What I Am Doing?
I started off with my regular walking program, yoga and some strength training. This week, we’re kicking all of that in the head and we’re ramping this program up into a tougher, harder to sustain workout. The goal is to push my limits and reach just beyond them.
So how will I do this?
Two years ago, I started walking 90 minutes a day in an effort to burn excess fat and discovered excess energy and increased creativity and more …
Excess Energy & Increased Creativity
As a writer, it’s important to me to be creative and I get a great deal of personal enjoyment out of my creativity. As a parent, energy is important to provide for my daughter with the attention, companionship and more before and after school, on the weekends, during her runs to her extra-curricular activities and more.
If my workout from two years ago created excess energy and increased creativity, while at the same time reducing my stress levels, helping me to achieve my goals and get healthier. These are all positive results and since all of those results are exactly what I want for myself right now – this week is the week that I make a return trip down this road.
The following is the exercise program I will be following this week:
- 90 Minutes on the treadmill daily
- 3 Days of Strength Training
- 3 Days of Flexibility Training
This sounds pretty simple and pretty straightforward. It is. Those 90 minutes may sound hard, but what works for me is to get up, get my daughter off to school and then set myself up on the treadmill. I can catch up on any television shows that I want to watch or review. What are your plans for this, the third week of our Spring Forward to Action 2007 challenge?
